COUNTY HOPES TO DEMOLISH FORMER ALLEGANY HIGH

Allegany County hopes to demolish the former Allegany High School location on Sedgwick Street sometime next year. The structure is deteriorating and is being vandalized. Ownership of the former school was transferred from the Board of Education to the county; the plan is to demolish the school and build single-family homes on the site. The county has received $500,000 from the Western Maryland Delegation, to be used toward the demolition.
